The Invisible Among Us

Damselfly, Austin TX

Damselfly, Austin TX

I choose invisibility: to
hear what I shouldn’t hear and
to know what I mustn’t know

When I was small I was
invisible and found my life
in books

I was the fifth March sister
and Jo forgave me for stealing
Professor Baer

I shared Arrietty’s matchbox
bed and nibbled crumbs like
biscuits

I flew across London under
Mary Poppin’s arm

And no one saw me.
